  5. European Multilingual Extension to XENIX/UNIX

  7. EURIX is a multilingual operating system extension to XENIX/UNIX for all
  8. Western European languages. The EURIX core product consists of an enhanced
  9. Bourne Shell, a selection of UNIX tools and utilities enhanced to run in a
  10. multilingual environment including the UNIX editors ed and vi and extended
  11. kernal facilities to perform keyboard mapping and alphabet contexting rules for
  12. each selected language. The EURIX Shell allow users to interact with SCO
  13. XENIX/UNIX in the language of their choice. Shell and XENIX/UNIX commands
  14. system messages are displayed in the user local language. The User can flip
  15. form one local standard keyboard to another with one keystroke. EURIX offers
  16. full transparency. An ``8-bit'' application running under XENIX and EURIX will
  17. inherit all the OS level multilingual capabilities. Thus, a user can run
  18. off-the-shelf English application in a multilingual mode instantly with no
  19. modifications. EURIX co-resides with XENIX/UNIX and causes no interference.
